UA to Hold Spring Commencement Ceremonies May 4 and 5

The University of Alabama will hold its spring commencement ceremonies Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 in Coleman Coliseum on the UA campus. Three University-wide commencement ceremonies will be held this year, at 6 p.m., Friday, May 4 and at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 5, to award degrees.

UA Graduate Students to Host Creative Writing Camp

Area high school students – from rising freshmen through graduating seniors – are invited to participate in the summer 2012 Creative Writing Camp at The University of Alabama May 28-June 8.

Students Receive UA Away Scholarships to Work, Serve and Study

The University of Alabama Division of Student Affairs has named five students as recipients of the summer UA Away scholarships.

Hand-made Baby Quilts to be Presented to Baby TALK Families

Thirteen expectant families who have been working with Baby TALK, a University of Alabama-based community engagement program building parent-infant relationships, will be presented with a handmade quilt Wednesday, April 25 at 10 a.m. at Maude L. Whatley Health Center, 2731 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in Tuscaloosa.

Philosopher to Lecture at UA on Social Belief, Democracy

Dr. Alvin Goldman, a board of governors professor of philosophy at Rutgers University, will deliver the final spring semester lecture in The University of Alabama’s Philosophy Today Lecture Series at 7:30 p.m. April 26 in 205 Smith Hall on the UA campus.

Early this morning, University police received reports of shots fired in close proximity to the campus.
