UA’s TCF Department Chooses Scriptwriting Contest Winners

The grand prize winner in a University of Alabama screenwriting contest, a telecommunication and film student from Mobile, will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

An award-winning author on GLBTQ issues, two sessions on radio in the civil rights era and a record number of University of Alabama student presentations on diversity issues will highlight this year’s Discerning Diverse Voices Symposium.

UA Senior Named Southeastern College Journalist of the Year

University of Alabama journalism senior and Crimson White culture editor Abbey Crain was named 2013 College Journalist of the Year, and the newspaper won the Best Public Service award in the Southeastern Journalism Conference’s annual “Best of the South” contest, at the recent SEJC convention in Lafayette, La.

A University of Alabama researcher was part of a team who found that, in the combined 18 nights of NBC’s Sochi Olympic broadcast, male athletes received the plurality of the network’s primetime coverage, but not nearly to the extent of past Winter Olympic analyses.
