The University of Alabama Air Force ROTC Detachment 10, hosted a Purple Heart Ceremony for Mr. John L. Hooks. Mr. Hooks was wounded in conflict in Vietnam in 1969, but due to a clerical error never received his Purple Heart medal. On November 1, 2012, U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. David S. Fadok, presented Mr. Hooks with his Purple Heart medal.
U.S. Army Reserve Sgt. Jordan Carpenter served his country on the front lines of battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.
