More than 250 University of Alabama Honors College freshmen and upper-class leaders will begin the fall semester with community service projects through Alabama Action, Outdoor Action and Black Belt Action.
The University of Alabama’s Alabama Panhellenic Association has received a College Panhellenic Excellence Award from the National Panhellenic Conference, an umbrella group for 26 national and international sororities. The American Legion Alabama Boys State convention has awarded University of Alabama President Judy Bonner with its highest honor, the James V. Thompson Award. Named after the first young man elected Alabama Boys State governor, this is the first time the Thompson Award has been awarded to a woman.
An exhibit featuring a series of photos taken in Cuba by Chip Cooper, faculty member and artist-in-residence at The University of Alabama’s Honors College, and Julio Ángel Larramendi Joa will be on display starting June 4 at the Massimiliano Massimo Institute in Rome in an exhibit titled “ Campesinos.” The exhibit is part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the Vatican.
