UA’s University Singers Set to Tour South Korea
Fifty-five members of The University of Alabama’s University Singers and some parents will travel to South Korea for a concert tour from Wednesday, May 11, to Monday, May 23.

The Alabama Center for the Book, housed in The University of Alabama Libraries, recently announced state grade- and high-school winners in the Letters About Literature competition.
Dr. Danae Stafanou, a musicologist and pianist at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece, will present a lecture and concert on improvisational music as part of The University of Alabama’s Greece Initiative.
Ken Rudin, political editor for National Public Radio, will speak about the political landscape and upcoming national elections at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in 205 Gorgas Library on The University of Alabama campus.
The University of Alabama’s Huxford Symphony Orchestra, the University Singers and University Chorus will perform Mozart’s Requiem and the Symphony No. 3 by contemporary Estonian composer Arvo Pärt at 7:30 p.m. April 22 in the Concert Hall of the Moody Music Building.
Artistry on Wheels, a competitive car show celebrating art and machinery, will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9, in the ten Hoor lot, behind the Strip on The University of Alabama campus.
Marshall Houston, a University of Alabama senior majoring in economics and English, will be one of 40 college students from across the country participating in the 2011 Student Freedom Ride, a learning opportunity for college students in conjunction with the broadcast of the upcoming PBS “American Experience” film “Freedom Riders” and the 50th anniversary of the May 1961 Freedom Rides.
“Exploring the Boundaries and Applications of Corpus Linguistics,” a symposium in the department of English at The University of Alabama, will be Friday, April 15 through Sunday, April 17 in UA’s Bidgood Hall.

Zelia Baugh, the newly appointed commissioner of the Alabama Department of Mental Health, will be a keynote speaker at the 12th annual Rural Health Conference on Monday, April 25, and Tuesday, April 26, at the Bryant Conference Center on The University of Alabama campus.
