Business leaders optimistic, survey says

…The Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Alabama said the latest quarterly gauge of Alabama business sentiment was the largest gain in confidence in the survey’s nearly eight-year history…CBER economic analyst Ahmad Ijaz said Tuesday that recovery from the national recession, which officially began in late 2007, could start in 2010. The state’s economy began tanking in 2008. ‘It’s not going to be a fast or rapid recovery but it will be a slow or modest recovery,’ Ijaz said. ‘Expect unemployment to go up at least to the first quarter of 2010 before it peaks, for the state and nationally.’…
